Fans have rallied around Sydney Sweeney after she effortlessly called out horrific body shamers without even saying a word.
The 27-year-old has rarely been out of the spotlight over the last few years, clocking up roles in Euphoria, Immaculate, the White Lotus and rom-com Anyone But You.
Last week, pictures showing the actress enjoying a much-needed break at her home in Florida were published by the Daily Mail, showing her relaxing by the pool in a bikini.
The comments section was instantly filled with vile putdowns, slamming the star’s looks, her figure, the career choices she had made, and just about anything else.
Having absolutely none of it, Sydney took matters into her own hands and gathered up some of the most hurtful messages for a new video on her Instagram page, highlighting the abuse.
After what felt like endless poisonous comments calling her ‘painfully average’, ‘quite frumpy’, ‘chunky’, ‘dumpy’, and some asking if she was ‘preggo?’, the clip then switched to a compilation of her intense training regime for her new role.
In the footage, she was seen lifting tires and weights in the gym, boxing up a storm and showing off her muscles ahead of her stint as boxer Christy Martin.
While she chose not to caption the upload, a string of famous faces were quick to hype her up below the post, complete with millions of fire emoji comments.
Glen Powell, who starred beside Sydney in Anyone But You, praised: ‘You’re such a badass. This movie is gonna be [fire].’
Lili Reinhart wrote: ‘It’s always wild to see people publicly out-themselves as pieces of s**t with comments like that.
‘You look incredible and your dedication to your project is very inspiring.’
Kesha simply agreed: ‘Strong baddie.’
Vicky Pattison replied: ‘Very sad, very bitter human beings.’
As Madelyn Cline added: ‘I truly love it here.’
Sydney has been booked and busy recently, and is showing zero signs of slowing down, having just wrapped on her biopic of Hall of Fame boxer Christy,
Sharing photos from set in October, she proudly told fans: ‘Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman – a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring.
‘Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all.’
At the end of last month, Sydney posted another update, explaining that the project – that she described as ‘one of the most emotional, transformative experiences’ – had officially wrapped.
‘Christy’s journey is so deeply inspiring, and having her by my side during this process was nothing short of surreal,’ she said. ‘There were moments on set where I’d glance over at her standing by the monitors, cheering us on, and I’d just become so emotional.
‘Knowing what she’s endured, what she’s pushed through to be there in that moment – it made me want to cry.’
‘This story is so much bigger than just a film. It’s a testament to resilience, survival, and finding the strength to keep fighting,’ she added.
‘I can’t wait for you all to see it – not only because I’m proud of the transformation and the work I’ve poured into it, but because Christy’s story deserves to be told.
‘And yes, you’ll get to see me kick some serious ass (like seriously kicked some ass) ((like I might’ve enjoyed it a little toooooo much while kicking ass haha)), but most importantly, you’ll witness a story that’s as powerful as the woman who lived it.
‘I’ll carry this experience with me forever. Can’t wait to share more.’
